TUAS Exhibition Gallery & Walk

From 10:30AM to 5:00PM

TUAS is hosting an exhibition gallery and walk on Sept 30th to coincide with Canada's first official day of National Truth and Reconciliation.

 

The event is being held at the Legion Hall from 10:30am to 5pm. Survivors of the Residential Schools, their families, Youth, Elders and other members of the public are invited to be in attendance to take part in acts of reconciliation and reflection at the Residental School Monument or attend the Legion for opportunities to learn.

 

The Agenda is as follows:

 

9am- Pipe Ceremony with Victor Tssessaze; closed to the Public

10am- Host and Narrator, Victor Tssessaze

10:15am- Elder/Knowledge Keeper Prayer, Isabel Morris

10:30am- Drum Honour Song for survivors and impacted generational family members

10:45am- Welcoming remarks, Grand Chief Garrison Settee, Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak

11am- Thompson Urban Aboriginal Strategy Chair, Charlene Lafreniere

Noon- Lunch and refreshments

1pm- Speakers & Residential School Monument

2pm- Walk of Reconciliation & honouring survivors of Residential  Schools from the Legion to the Residential School Monument reflection space at Lions Park.

2:30pm- Survivors Testimonials & general public

4pm- Wrap up & prayer, Circle of Unity, Moment of silence.

Register Today for UCN's "Tomorrow's Leaders Today" Classes

From 4:00PM to 4:00PM

University College of the North, in partnership with Partners in Discovery Ltd. are offering "Tomorrow's Leaders Today" virtual classes with live instructiors on October 22nd, 2021 and November 22nd, 2021 from 8:30am and end at 12:30pm.

 

The workshops explore what organizations and employees need to do to promote and build successful leaders in the workforce. What you can do, as an organization, to avoid the pitfalls and costs of unsuccessful promotions to leadership and what you can do, as an employee, to prepare yourself for a successful promotion.

 

Day 1's 4 hour session will teach you:

-What employer and employee success looks like

-Transition planning for internal promotion- with intersessional activities

-How to avoid promotional derailments

-The skills necessary for success in the workplace

 

Day 2's 4 hour session will teach you:

-reports on activities, results and development plans

-discussions on the implication for employers and employees and the next steps path forward on leadership.

Intro to MS Word

From 4:00PM to 4:00PM

UCN is offering an "Intro to MS Word" course throughout the month of October at the Thompson Campus, Room #325. The dates are October 9th, October 16th and October 23rd and will run from 1pm- 4pm.

 

The 9 hour course is for beginners with little to no computer experience and are led by a live, qualified instructor that will teach via hands- on practice, discussion and lecture style presentation.

 

The course will teach participants how to:

-create and save documents

-cut, copy and paste text and images

-format text

-proof and print documents

-work within multiple documents

-view documents side by side

-use templates to create different types of documents

 

The course is 100% free, thought there are limited spots. Register before October 1st at 4pm to secure a spot.

Intro to MS Excel

From 4:00PM to 4:00PM

UCN is offering an "Intro to MS Excel" course throughout the month of November at the Thompson Campus, Room #325. The dates are November 13th, November 20th and November 27th and will run from 1pm- 4pm.

 

The 9 hour course is for beginners with little to no computer experience and are led by a live, qualified instructor that will teach via hands- on practice, discussion and lecture style presentation.

 

The course will teach participants how to:

-create and format worksheets

-work with rows and columns

-format text and use the most common functions of Microsoft Excel

-manage worksheets

-input and edit data

 

The course is 100% free, thought there are limited spots. Register before November 5th at 4pm to secure a spot.
