YWCA is offering free training opportunities through their Steps to Success program. Steps to Success is offering a variety of courses throughout the month of March.
Smart Choices- Responsibile Service Certification and/or Cannabis Retail Certification: March 1st, 9am- 3pm
Money Matters: March 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd, 1:30pm- 3pm at Burntwood School
Basic Computer: March 4th- March 7th, 10am- 12pm
Word: March 4th- March 7th, 1pm- 3pm
Publisher- Brochures: March 8th, 10am to 12pm
Safe Food Handling: March 11th or March 15th, 9am- 3pm
Workplace Communication: March 18th- March 22nd, 10am- 12pm
Excel: March 25th- March 28th, 10am- 12pm

In addition, if you are thinking of getting your GED, your last chance to write the test in Thompson is March 26th and March 27th. If you haven’t applied, the application deadline is March 5th. If you have applied and would like some extra tutoring, Steps for Success will be offering free GED prep until March 22nd.
The Keewatin Tribal Council 2nd Annual Ice Fishing derby takes place on March 17th from 11am to 3pm at the Paint Lake Marina's Main Boat Launch area.
Registration runs that day from 8am to noon. Advance tickets are $150 while on-ice registration is $200. To book advance tickets, go to Keewatin Tribal Council on 23 Nickel Road until Friday at 4pm, Crazy Pete's Trading Post until Saturday at 9pm or Paint Lake Marina from Thursday to Satuday until 9pm.
There will be over 50 thousand dollars in cash and prices available with first place prize being 25 thousand dollars and there will be a 50/50 raffle sold on the ice.
