YWCA Steps to Success September Courses

YWCA is offering free training opportunities through their Steps to Success program. Steps to Success is offering a variety of courses throughout the month of September

 

Microsoft Excel: September 3th- September 6th, 10am- 12pm

 

Basic Computer: Tuesday evenings, September 10th- October 1st, 6am- 9am. Altered Minds will be supplying a free computer to each participant. Pre-registration is required
 

Basic Computer: Fridays, September 13th- October 4th at Burntwood School. Morning sessions between 9am- 12pm and afternoon sessions between 1pm- 4pm. Altered Minds will be supplying a free computer to each participant. Pre-registration is required

 

Essential Skills for Employment: September 23rd- November 22nd, 9am- 3pm. Learn employment skills, attend certification training, complete two-week job placement.

Mental Health First Aid Course

From 9:00AM to 5:00PM

The University College of the North is partnering up with the Canadian Mental Health Association to offer a Mental Health First Aid course for any adults 18 and older who wish to join. The program is intended to help teach people how to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health problems as well as how to provide help and guide them towards appropriate professional help.

 

Classes will run September 10th and 11th or November 5th and 6th from 9am- 5pm at the UCN Campus, Room 316A on the third floor. Tuition is $209 plus $10.45 GST) per seat. Deadlines to register and make payments are September 3rd or October 29th by 3pm.

 

Tuition must be paid in order for seats to be held. Refunds will be issued if course is cancelled or if the student wishes to withdraw so long as a withdrawl form is submitted to UCN within 10 business days prior to the first day of class.

Mermaid Story Time & Craft

The Thompson Public Library is holding a special Mermaid story and craft event on Wednesday, September 11th starting at 4pm. The event is for children from 4 to 10 and a library card is required for signing up.
